Hello and welcome to our liveblog for Man Utd vs Southampton! Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team have fallen out of form a bit and dropped down the table but a win could make all the difference for their lofty ambitions this season. The manager has plans to get back on track and one of those was the signing of Takumi Minamino from Liverpool:

“He will help provide another good attacking option, and is importantly the right profile of player for us,’ said Hasenhuttl this week.

“This will give us some additional depth in our squad at an important time, and I am looking forward to beginning work with him on the training pitch.

“I see us creating a lot of chances and it is only a question of time before we score again so it doesn’t worry me at the moment.”

How about the tactical approach to the game? Man Utd are brilliant on the counter but are starting to become a real problem for teams when they have possession for long spells too, if we ignore their defeat to Sheffield United in which every player was dreadful.

“It’s not interesting for us, how they play. We know that we can do our pressing against every opponent.

“My bigger issue is that we have only two days before the game, so this is a tough time.

“I hope that my physios do a good job, my doctors do a good job and that the guys are eating well and sleeping well.

“I don’t have a lot of players left. A few young lads can fill the bench.

“We always like to go there, it’s always tough but if we can show a brave performance again, why not.

“Things can change quickly in football, especially when you have injuries like we have. This is definitely tough now.

“On the other side we have 29 points already. When we had no injuries we had a very good run now we are struggling a little bit but it is still enjoyable to watch the team fighting.”

Kick off is at 8pm, follow all the action with us here.
